In a few short years, The Sports Bra has created a veritable movement! When AWSN launched in November 2024, we created an All Women's Sports Bar Network that would link these amazing establishments under a common mission: to elevate women's sports! It was an easy ask at the time because there were only six women's sports bars in the country. We interviewed them all (here's Jenny's interview), and by Spring 2025, several more sprang up! Almost all attributed The Sports Bra and founder and CEO Jenny Nguyen to their success....which is why we are so excited to see the announced expansion!
The Sports Bra is busting out across the nation! They’re expanding into four incredible cities: Boston, Indianapolis, Las Vegas, and St. Louis.
What started as a little bar in Portland with a big mission, The Sports Bra is now becoming a national movement. These cities aren’t just getting a new place to watch the game—they’re getting inclusive community hubs where women’s sports take center screen.
PORTLAND, Ore. (June 3, 2025) — The Sports Bra, the world’s first sports bar dedicated to exclusively showing women’s sports, is on a winning streak, and it's adding four new cities to its roster. Today, The Sports Bra announced it will open franchises in Boston, Indianapolis, Las Vegas, and St. Louis, bringing its elevation and celebration of women’s sports to fans across the country. With professional women’s sports teams like the Women’s National Basketball Association’s Las Vegas Aces and Indiana Fever, the Professional Women’s Hockey League’s Boston Fleet, the Women’s Football Alliance’s St. Louis Slam, the Women’s National Football Conference’s Las Vegas Silver Stars, and the National Women’s Soccer League’s Boston Legacy FC (set to begin play in the 2026 season), these cities are primed for a game-changing addition to their sports scenes.
Since opening its inaugural restaurant in Portland, Oregon, in 2022, The Sports Bra has changed the channel on the traditional sports bar experience by only televising women’s sports. Now, thanks to inspiring women athletes, enthusiastic fans, and an ever-growing demand for inclusive spaces that support and celebrate women and girls in sports, The Sports Bra is expanding its impact to cities across the U.S.

There is data behind that demand. According to a recent report from Barbarian and The GIST, the revenue generated by women’s sports was projected to reach $2.35 billion in 2024. That’s a 300% increase in revenue growth in women’s sports since 2022. Media coverage of women’s sports has increased 275% over the past five years.
Jenny Nguyen, founder and CEO of The Sports Bra, couldn’t be more excited about this expansion, and said, "The first four franchises of The Sports Bra will join our OG Portland location to become the ‘Starting Five.’ Together, we're serving fans nationwide who are hungry for spaces that not only champion women’s sports, but create a community where everyone feels like they belong. There is no better moment than this to open these places.”

The addition of these new locations will help fuel the movement for gender equity in sports and provide even more opportunities for fans to watch, cheer, and connect over their favorite women's teams and athletes.
Two years after The Sports Bra opened its doors in April 2022, the Portland-based bar announced that Alexis Ohanian’s 776 Foundation had invested in the business with the goal to expand through franchising. In October 2024, the brand officially launched its franchise website and invited potential franchisees to invest. Now, in spring 2025, the first team of franchise owners of The Sports Bra has signed up to join the movement.
Fans in Boston, Indianapolis, Las Vegas and St. Louis can cheer on their favorite women’s teams and athletes at The Sports Bra in their own neighborhoods, while enjoying delicious food and drinks originally crafted at the flagship location.

"We know from experience that traditional sports bar fare isn't for everyone. That's why we offer thoughtfully prepared dishes for every dietary need, including vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and dairy-free menu options," added Nguyen.
The Mom’s Baby Back Ribs, Aunt Tina’s Vietna-Glaze Wings, and Tempeh Reuben will be available at all locations, as will the signature cocktails including The GOAT, Title IX, Cherry Picker, and Pickle Ball.

Each new location will be locally owned and operated, giving fans the chance to support both their hometown teams and the small businesses in their communities. Just as the original Portland Bra champions women-owned breweries, distilleries, farms, and artisan food businesses, each new Sports Bra will spotlight local producers in its own region.
Nguyen added, “The Sports Bra is more than just a place to watch the game—it’s a movement. Our team spoke with hundreds of interested people about opening a franchise location, and we’ve met some incredible people along the way. These owner/operators are capable, enthusiastic, and deeply committed to The Bra’s mission. We continue to support them as they locate the perfect spaces for their own Bras, and we can’t wait to celebrate with them when it’s time to open their doors!”
